United Methodists Believe:
The United Methodist Church is a global denomination started by John Wesley in the 18th century. United Methodists share a common heritage with other Christians. They are: conviction that God has mercy and love for all people; belief in the triune God: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; faith in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ; and the celebration of the sacraments (Baptism and Holy Communion). Four guidelines that help us understand our faith are: scripture, tradition, experience, and reason.
